Work in progress in preparation for exhibition at Island Arts Centre, Lisburn, Northern Ireland in January 2024.

 

These paintings will be exhibited alongside a selection of Turf Project photographic prints.  They are painted using a restricted palette of paints made in collaboration with Castle Paints in Tullamore, County Offaly.  I selected these colours from the Ireland colour samples series, hand mixed them in my studio and worked with Castle Paints, to reproduce them accurately in commercial acrylic paints. 

 

The geometric forms in these colour studies are inspired by horizon lines and structures within the Irish landscape, the colour combinations play with changing light and atmosphere and evoke a sense of being grounded in place.
